At your Nailer, Set... Go !!

I think that we all wished one day to be able to get to work with the smallest amount of tools as possible !! Well... the future is not quite there yet, but some companies are definitely working on it !!

Sometimes,  when you just have to go and do that tiny little job, (trimming around a window, installing a door, or installing 1/4 round in a single room) you wish that you wouldn't have to pull all your compressor, hose and nailer out of the truck !! Well a couple of companies have made this possible !! Dewalt and Black & Decker were pretty much the pioneers in that field, and didn't have much competition until now !! As far as I'm concerned, I think that they still have a really good and reliable product on the market right now, but their design is getting a bit bulky compare to the other brands !!

The main compromise, is the fact that all of theses nailers have to generate their own energy to hit the nails through the toughest materials and they also have to keep up with the end user !! Believe me they will all keep up to most users unless you are John Wayne's son : P !! Dewalt, Bosch and Ridgid are the 3 nailers that are only using the power of a battery to operate !! Then there is Paslode and Senco, that are respectively using a battery to ignite a fuel cell and nitrogen !! All the battery powered nailers have an integrated LED light that could prove to be convenient in some situations !! They also have a depth adjustment dial and a belt hook, if you are not worried to add at least 7 pounds to your tool belt !!

It can get very expensive, when you have to go buy 8-10 $ fuel cell to reload your nailer every few thousand nails, that's why at least Senco came up with a system that re-cycle the nitrogen after every ignition, so no expensive fuel cell replacement !!

The only other negative point to theses nailers, is the price !! They average around 350 $, but I guess that's the price to pay if you want convenience and less tools to carry around !! Let's hope that in a near future we can at least get a much smaller, heavy duty nailer for that price !!
